When does AI help a student learn, and when does it do the work?
-
Consider a student learning a subject they find difficult. They could ask AI for another explanation, a practice question, feedback on their reasoning, or a finished answer.
Where would you draw the line between useful assistance and doing the learning task for the student?
Pick one situation and explain the boundary you would use. Teachers, students, parents, and people learning on their own may see different tradeoffs.
Include how you would check that the learner can explain or apply the idea afterward. Keep examples fictional and leave out names, grades, or private information about actual students.
